I want to remind everyone that Jerry refused to cross a picket line to play a gig 50 years ago on his 27th birthday. He also wore a cool shirt that day. We love you guy.

Excellent!

Here's to Jerry.

Hmm, the good news was, at 27, he wasn't dead, eh?

;)

I believe that's creme? At least he didn't turn out like Dan White.

Lucky for you John Mayer discovered the Dead and not Cream.

He was in a quagmire.
I saw them twice on July 31 and it was as if a birthday show, and it was after midnight. On tapes you can hear the crowd singing Happy Birthday to Jerry. Nicest song you can hear then. Jerry would blush and kind of giggle and then just have fun and wander round.

That the people doing the light show at the Family Dog in August of '69 went on strike is pretty hilarious. Like it was a real job. Love it. Those hippies were just so dang adorable.

Jerry showed up round midnight at the Dead gig (after appearing elsewhere with Hunter, or Nelson, or somebody) I suspect hoping to play, only to find to his surprise that things hadn't been sorted out yet. His absence from the scene at show time had more to do with avoiding conflict than refusing to cross a picket line I will posit.
But history is left to the winners, or at the least the folks still alive.
